KidLib - Content Questions

How Does a KidLib Search Compare to a Normal Web Search?

One of the major challenges facing students "googling" - using the main Web search engines for homework and project research - is information overload. We index our chosen sites in almost the same way as the major engines, with one major difference - while they do ALL the Web, KidLib indexes only the BEST of the Web, especially those sites with a strong information or learning focus. So you'll find KidLib gives you and your students and patrons WEB FOCUS, along with a more rewarding research experience than using the big engines with their billions and billions of pages.

What are your criteria for including sites?

KidLib sites are the best of the Web. They are researched and chosen for their general interest, and as resources for research based learning.

What are your criteria for leaving out sites?

We eliminate all sites that promote illegal acts or hatred, and sites that may be dangerous to minors. We do not feature sites that ask for student's names and addresses or phone numbers. Our standard KidLib offering also eliminates sites that may be distracting to study, or not related to learning or education, such as commercial or fan sites, other search sites or public email providers.

What if we think your criteria are too narrow or too wide?

Our basic sites are for the general Web user, and we are continually managing our lists to meet the needs of the average user in a school or public library or at home. But KidLib is a service dedicated to meeting your Web needs - premium subscribers can also create, manage and maintain their own custom lists for KidLib access.
